He could be Dervel in that he’s a castrated champagne rat, but that’s about where the differences end. He’s bigger than Dervel, chunkier than Dervel, has completely different ears and is a lot smarter than Dervel. And… well, he’s not quite as friendly as Dervel.
Still, you can’t exactly blame Sammy for having a bit of an attitude. He lives a life of luxury with his mum Rhona and his slave cage girls, who treat him like a god. When he is accidentally swapped with Dervel at a rat show and taken back to live with Smurt and Snitch, suddenly his whole way of life changes. Not only is he now without his adoring servants, Snitch and Smurt show no signs of treating him with the respect he feels he deserves.
You can see Sammy’s first appearance in ‘Dervel the Handsome’. He will return in “Wherefore Art Thou Dervel?’
Contrary to what Dervel might believe, Dermot isn’t a tiny little monster. Dermot is a ferret; a polecat ferret and, considering that he lives with three rats, quite a well behaved one at that.
Dermot doesn’t say very much, making him the ideal child from a parenting perspective. He watches, observes, idolises his mummy daddy mu parent Dervel and drives Snitch to distraction. Yet despite his innocent exterior, Dermot is cheeky, playful and capable of getting up to all sorts of mischief – and of getting into the teeniest of spaces! I wouldn’t recommend extracting a ferret from your u-bend with a plunger but, to be fair, Dervel is muddling his way through parenthood as best he can.
Dermot isn’t based on a real ferret in particular, but if I ever do get a ferret you can bet that I’ll call him Dermot.
Dermot appears in Papa Dervel and Dervel’s Zombie Adventure.

I really look forward to meet Klovne!
That is to say…as long as he is VERY GOOD and REALLY KIND to Dervel
